Disclaimer: The quality of some of the videos (and audio) here might not be that good. I’m only trying to highlight the moments, not the videos themselves. For me, these are epic moments that make me wish i was there when they happened. Oh, and I do not own any of these videos. Game!

1.Bamboo jams with the current (2012) rivermaya - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9M8E56LEm38

8. Francis versus Teddy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTqjx7gVxW0

9. Perf de Castro’s tribute to FrancisM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=9tYW44nXk9A#t=109s

Trese: 13 OPM songs of my life (so far)

“Sabihin man ng lolo mo, Ika’y Kastila at Kano
Pagmasdan mo ang kutis mo, kulay lupa walang kasing ganda”

2. Without your love - Ariel Rivera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZyao5Y2pvQ
At inulit ko pa nung second verse

“Only yesterday when we’re together
I never thought your love for me will fade away”
(dito ako pumiyok hehe)

3. With a smile - Eraseheads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtqAUOxwh-k&ob=av2n
Disclaimer: past is past
“We’ll get by with a Smile”

4. Harana - Parokya ni Edgar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0IJ476miow
Battle of the bands,1st year High School. Dahil hindi namin mabuo buo yung Iisang Bangka Tayo ng the Dawn, nagdecide kami na ito na lang ang kantahin days before magsimula yung contest. So gumawa kami ng duet band version nito. Naka abot naman kami sa finals

“Sino ba ‘tong mukhang gagong nagkandarapa sa pagkanta
At nasisintunado sa kaba”

5. Awit ng Kabataan - Rivermaya http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YtvP3OpyQA
Battle of the bands uli. Sa labas naman ng school. Actually city-wide contest sya.

6. Till I found you - Freestyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Li_7Vv4SnxE

Battle of the bands na naman. Balik school na, 2nd year. First time ko mag keyboards sa labas ng bahay namin (may solo part pa). Seryosohang voicing na din ‘to

I never had somebody I could lean on
I never had a shoulder I could cry on till I found you baby
Till I found you…

7. Boyfriend kong Baduy - Cinderella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6if6bSfc1Q
Ok last na ‘to sa Battle of the bands.

8. Ligaya - Eraserheads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gigNSBaTgrM
College naman. First and only gig ko with a band. Dapat mga Incubus and The Used yung lineup namin.

9. Cagayan - Popgun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m1vDERxCF4 (the Haneps version)
Singles yung pangalan, OST yata ng isang TV show. This song stuck with me hanggang sa magtrabaho na ko. after almost 10 years, ngayon ko lang nalaman yung original artist = Popgun

“Nasan ka na o aking baybeh?”

10. Eddie - The Members http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLt_iY62OjI
One of the most famous office songs sa trabaho ko. Nung konti pa lang kami at isa lang ang source of music namin, pag pinatugtog mo ‘to, sabay sabay kaming kakanta sa Chorus “Si Eddie! sinong Eddie?”.  Pangalan ng boss namin e Eduardo, at yung isa pang boss, Medy naman yung pangalan. Masayang tugtugin to pag nasstress kami sa trabaho haha

11. Alapaap - Eraserheads (The Reunion version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oALvsqgTlDw&feature=fvst
Lahat kami dun nakikikanta, memorized! First song pa lang, fireworks agad!

13. Your Universe- Rico Blanco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr33jn6hN0c&feature=relmfu
Disclaimer: cheesy
Basta lagi ko ‘tong kinakanta sa kanya pag matutulog na sya over the phone or pag nag aaway kami. Minsan tumatalab, minsan hindi hehe

“you can thank your stars all you want but Ill always be the lucky one”

Kayo din, kwntuhan nyo ko. Kahit hindi trese. Pwede lima o sampu o dalawampu.

Trese: 13 ideas I have on how we can save OPM

Some might say that it’s a chicken n egg thing. No good materials because people don’t support them. People don’t support them because there are no good materials.

1. We should have All-OPM fm stations or at least programs. Thanks Jam 88.3 (every Saturday)

2. Record stores, PLEASE put the OPM racks in front of the store. I always have to look for them in the corner or in a hidden place.

3. Movies should use more OPM songs in their soundtrack . Not just one (usually revived) song and play it over and over with different versions lang

4. People should recognize that supporting OPM is not limited to supporting OPM bands. There are a lot of artists that play different types of music.

5. TV should feature more Filipino artists. Let the host be the host and let the other artists share their music

6. Productions should organize more tribute gigs. Gary Granada night, anyone?

7. Annual songwriting contests. Thank you http://www.philpop.com.ph/

8. Other regions/cities should have venues and programs for  their local artists. Not necessarily to make it mainstream. but having your own local music scene would be very cool

9. Continue to sell old music form the 70s,80s and 90s. Thanks http://www.opm2go.com/

10. Stop producing albums with actors/hosts/ non-singers singing all cover songs. We don’t care what their favorite songs are. If they really want to sing, hire decent composers for them.
Yes Willie is kinda doing it right (except for #5)

11. Indie artists should be active online so they can reach more people.

12. More concerts for Filipino artists. I’m talking about producing and supporting

13. We should recognize that Hindi porke’t tagalog yung kanta e baduy na. Grow up people.

Trese: My Top 13 Filipino Composers/Lyricists

(Not in Any Order)

2. Gary Granada(Pag nananalo ang Ginebra, Mabuti pa sila, Saranggola sa Ulan) -  For me, he IS the best.

3. Ely Buendia(Pare Ko, Overdrive, Ang Huling El Bimbo) -  Yes, I am an Eheads fan.

4. Ryan Cayabyab(Limang Dipang Tao,Da Coconut Nut,Tuwing Umuulan) -  The Classics.Nuff said

5. Jim Paredes(Batang Bata ka pa, Nakapagtataka,Tuyo Nang Damdamin) - Unique concepts. Yung mga tono, ang layo ng naaabot

You can actually feel the sadness and the heartbreak (emo)

9. Jimmy Antiporda(Anak ng Pasig, Makita kang Muli,Cold Summer nights) - I bet you didn’t know that. Cheesy but still, classics in each genre

10.Snaffu Rigor (Macho Gwapito,Bulag Pipi Bingi,TL ako sa’yo) - Yup he is my bet for karaoke songs

11.Marvic Sotto (Ipagpatawad mo, Rock Baby Rock,Bakit ba ganyan) - He just owned that era

12.Rico Blanco (214,Awit ng Kabataan, Umaaraw Umuulan) - He wrote a lot of the anthem songs of the 90’s up to present

13.Gary Valenciano(Di Bale na lang, Eto na Naman, Sana Maulit Muli) - Those dance songs and ballads in the 80’s and 90’s that we still sing until now? Those are his songs

Marami pa, di kasya sa 13. This would probably have a part 2. But my dream is to have someone to write something like this after 10-20 years. Hopefully a longer list. With the same people here (Because these people and their songs should be remembered forever) and a number of people from my generation and the future generation. Oo magaling tayo mag revive or gumawa ng sarili nating rendition. Pero magaling din tayo gumawa ng Orig. Mabuhay OPM

Trese: 13 things I can say about the Eraserheads

1. 70s was Juan dela Cruz, 80s was the Dawn, 90s was Eraserheads, 2000 is debatable (Sugarfree?),2010s we’ll see. But no one was and will ever be as big as the heads.

2. Some say that their early music was simple and they are not as talented then. I disagree, specially when you hear Buddy Zabala’s bassline and read their lyrics

3. You will definitely hear a few hints of the Beatles in their music but they are not the Beatles of the Philippines. They are THE Eraserheads.

6. Fruitcake is the rock equivalent of Christmas in our hearts.

7. With a Smile was one of the greats but it’s a little bit awkward. (“with a smaheeeyl” and “fetch you everyday”)

I can identify a number of people that I know na matatamaan sa linyang ‘to. Kasama na ko dun.

9. You can always relate their songs to your life. Kahit malayo sa real meaning ng kanta.

 10. The music we didnt appreciate in their latter years are the ones we are loving now from the newer bands. They were way ahead of the generation then.

 11. Their reunion concerts were the only Eraserheads concerts/live perfomance that I have seen

12. Though I also watched the second, it could have been better if the first Reunion concert was the only one they had.ever.

13. Everytime I go out of the country, I always make sure I wear the Eheads reunion shirt. That’s my way of saying na Pinoy ako.

Trese: 13 things I can say about Bob Ong

3. “ABNKKBSNPLA Ko” was the first book but “Bakit Baligtad” started it all for Bob Ong

First serious book and it was sooo disturbing (meaning, effective)

7. Maganda yung concept ng “Alamat ng Gubat”. Kakaiba at risky but I think he pulled it off

13. Hindi sya si Lourd. sigurado ako dun.

Trese: 13 things I can say about Asiong Salonga: Manila Kingpin Movie

1. Spoiler alert!

2. I dont need to watch the other films para maniwala na ito nga ang Best Picture. Still has a lot flaws but a pretty good film.

3. Oo kakaiba. Pero kung same concept din sa mga susunod na pasko (kwento ng kriminal, black and white, same actor), e wala na rin syang kaibahan sa mga paulit ulit na pelikula. Wag naman sana

4. If you’re a fan of 90’s Action movies, then that’s already a plus for nostalgia (John Regala, Joko Diaz, Roi Vinzon, Dennis Padilla)

5. Just like the other pinoy films, yung bida steady lang pero dinaan sa bigat ng supporting cast

6. I’m not sure if he’s just playing the part, pero ang likot ng kamay ni Gov.

7. Galing ni Baron Geisler. Umaakting kahit nakabalot sa sako.
